So many of you have given us wonderful reviews and recommendations the past few months! Thank you for your kind words and your willingness to share your experiences with friends and neighbors. As you know, our standards of care are high, and our staff members go the extra mile to make sure each and every dog or cat has a wonderful experience at Dogville and Kitty City. For this reason, we need to make some changes to our pricing structure in order to continue to devote staff time to the care of each dog or cat that stays with us.
In the past, we have provided daily texts and photos of each dog or cat to their families at no charge during their stay. As we have grown, this service has become incredibly labor and time intensive for our staff. While many of you respond to the texts and talk to us about how much you enjoy them, other families have indicated that their travel plans kept them from getting texts or photos, they didn’t have time to read them or they really weren’t interested in receiving them. In order to make sure we are devoting the time and resources to obtaining photos and text updates for the clients that want them, we will now be offering the option of text message updates for $2.50 each or text updates with photos for $5.00 each. You can choose any combination daily, or as many or as few times as you like during your trip. Incidentally, the charge is per family of dogs or cats, not per dog or cat. If you would rather call us and check on your dog(s) or cat(s) by talking to a staff member, you are certainly welcome to choose that option.
Secondly, we will no longer be able to provide free baths for dogs after a five-day stay with us. For some time now, we’ve had to exclude certain breeds or types of dogs from this benefit because their coats required the care of a professional groomer. Examples of these breeds are poodles, doodles, collies, Afghans and several other breeds that require extensive brushing before bathing or extensive drying. Other dogs with allergies or skin problems were also excluded for fear of interfering with their treatment or care. Clients have understandably been disappointed at being excluded, so for this reason, we are eliminating this service to make it fair for everyone. Starting this week, every client that books a 5 day or longer stay will be offered a bath by the groomer at check-in and as a way of apologizing for the inconvenience, the first one will be 50% off.
I know that some of you will be disappointed in these changes. Please understand that these decisions were made to allow us to devote the time to continue the exemplary care we provide for your dog(s) and cat(s). Ultimately, I am responsible for each of these decisions and not my staff, and I am happy to discuss them further with you. I never take your business or your trust for granted and hope that we will continue to be your choice for caring for your furry family members.
